There have been at least 475 Aboriginal deaths in police custody since the 1991 Royal Commission into Aboriginal deaths in custody in Australia. Astonishingly this includes 9 deaths in the year 2021 so far. How many prior to 1991? It's a disturbing thing to ponder.

There is no death penalty in place in Australia.

Any more Aboriginal deaths in custody is completely unacceptable, there are no valid reasons and no excuses.
